You're welcome to join us for the public talk on Friday, the full-day retreat on Saturday, or both! Each event offers unique insights, but together they provide a comprehensive understanding of how we can overcome the experiences of pain and sickness.

Public Talk: Transforming Pain
Being alive means that we all experience some kind of emotional or physical pain at some point in our life, without choice. When we are feeling unwell or in pain, suffering can feel inevitable. It can be hard to know how to approach such a situation in a spiritual manner.
Using Buddhist wisdom, we can transform the experiences of pain and sickness into something useful. Through such teachings as compassion, patient acceptance, and impermanence, we can change our attitude towards these adverse conditions and lessen the impact that they have on us. With practice, we may even be able to view these situations as a spiritual teacher that can help inspire our progress on the spiritual path.
Please join us for this public talk with Gen Kelsang Demo, who will share her personal experience with the subject of transforming pain into the spiritual path. Gen Demo is a Buddhist nun, US Western and Midwestern National Spiritual Director, and the Resident Teacher at the International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon.
